American in-house development team at Bethesda Softworks
Bethesda Game Studios is an American video game developer and a studio of ZeniMax Media based in Rockville, Maryland. It is best known for its action role-playing franchises, including The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Starfield. Bethesda Game Studios opened in 2001 as the development unit of Bethesda Softworks, separating from publishing operations.

According to Eurogamer, Bethesda apparently never considered having an outside team develop a spin-off game to fill the long gap in The Elder Scrolls, as it did once with Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas. The article notes that Skyrim launched almost 15 years ago and that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still marinating at Bethesda Game Studios.

According to IT Home, Wccftech reported that Joost van Dreunen argues Microsoft’s gaming acquisitions created a reverse acquisition pattern, with Xbox internal studios absorbed into external publishers such as Activision Blizzard and ZeniMax. The report notes the total spend on these publishers and Dreunen’s background as a NYU Stern professor and former SuperData Research founder.
