According to Maeil Business Newspaper, South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy launches a new 5-year R&D program with about 400 billion won in funding, and battery companies plan to invest about 8 trillion won through 2030. The roadmap was unveiled at a meeting in Seoul with LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI, SK On and major material suppliers such as POSCO FutureM, L&F, and EcoPro BM. The government and industry will pursue next-generation battery technologies, including sodium-ion and solid-state batteries, and strengthen collaboration from 2026 to 2030.

According to Maeil Business Newspaper, POSCO Future M has signed a contract worth 1.07 trillion won to supply LFP cathode materials to SK On from 2024 through 2029. This agreement expands the partnership beyond existing anode material cooperation and positions POSCO Future M to supply both cathode and anode materials to all three major domestic battery manufacturers.
