According to Mint Technology, Microsoft will give DARPA direct, on-site access to its latest quantum computing hardware at a new Maryland research center opened with the University of Maryland and other industry partners. The center will house a quantum system that uses Microsoft's Majorana 2 chip, enabling DARPA to load hardware and run its own boot sequences, marking a shift from remote to physical access. Microsoft plans to have commercial quantum systems ready by 2029.
