The origin

Apple Computer Company was founded on April 1, 1976, in Cupertino, California, by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. It started to market Wozniak's Apple I computer, which Jobs and Wozniak hand-built and demonstrated, leading to early orders and the creation of the Apple II, introduced in 1977 and becoming a major commercial success. Apple Computer, Inc. was incorporated in 1977 with Jobs and Wozniak as key figures, and Wayne had departed before incorporation.

The company adopted the name Apple Inc. in 2007 as it expanded from computers to consumer electronics and online services, later building a broad product lineup and services ecosystem including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, and services like the iTunes Store, Apple Music, iCloud, and the Apple Store retail network; by the 2020s it grew into a large multinational with significant revenue from devices and services.
