According to The Hindu Business, Vedanta proposes a 1 lakh crore investment in Odisha and seeks to revive the Niyamgiri mining project. The move references the 2013 shelving of the bauxite project after resistance by the Dongria Kondh, a PVTG in Odisha, which was expressed through landmark Gram Sabha resolutions described as India’s first environmental referendum.
