According to BBC Business, Rolls-Royce will supply 18 Trent XWB-97 engines for nine Airbus A350-1000 aircraft for Philippine Airlines, with an accompanying maintenance package. The deal is described as worth hundreds of millions of pounds, and the government welcomed it for bringing good quality jobs to Derby and Broughton; it was first announced as a memorandum of understanding at the Farnborough International Airshow in July. Rob Watson noted the long-standing relationship with Philippine Airlines, and the engine can operate on a 50% sustainable aviation fuel blend now with plans for 100% in the future.
