According to IT Home, VideoCardz reported that Reddit user Wax469 stated his MSI GeForce RTX 5080 Ventus 3X running GTA V with a third-party DLSS 5 mod showed severe artifacts, screen freezes, and flickering after about one day, ultimately rendering the GPU unusable. The user noted the GPU had functioned for about a month prior and had not run DLSS 5 during that time; after swapping to a working RTX 5080 and stopping DLSS 5 Mod, he plans to wait for more games to officially support DLSS 5. There have been several similar claims about DLSS 5 potentially damaging GPUs, though evidence is lacking, while DLSS 5 is reported to increase GPU power draw in some tests by up to about 50% with an RTX 5090 Lightning Z using a 1000W supply.
