According to The Korea Times Business, Korean steelmakers are cautiously hopeful that voluntary production cuts by about 45 Chinese mills could ease oversupply and price pressure, depending on how deeply and consistently output is reduced; the scenario of a drastic 200–300 million ton cut by China would likely have a very positive effect on steelmakers worldwide, including Korea.
