According to CNA Sport, the FIA Formula One Commission agreed to reduce the standard Grand Prix distance from 305km to 290km from 2027 and to remove the current three-hour maximum time limit, while keeping a two-hour limit on actual racing; a hard stop time will be introduced for disrupted events. The commission also approved greater flexibility to extend free practice sessions and decided to remove gearbox homologation for 2027 after consultation with manufacturers and a recommendation from the Sporting Advisory Committee.
