According to CNA Sport, Euroleague shareholders will meet in Italy on Monday (Oct. 2, 2026) to discuss an expansion project, with talks with the NBA to become part of the 2027 NBA Europe league on the agenda. If no agreement is reached, NBA Europe and the Euroleague would enter into a rivalry, while a potential merger could shift governance and financing of Europe’s continental competition. The discussion also touches on plans for a semi-open league with 14-16 teams and pathways for clubs to reach the top tier, with involvement from NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and FIBA.
