According to Maeil Business Newspaper, Korea’s National Pension Service says that among 6,605,623 beneficiaries in May 2026, 4,123,018 people (62.4%) received less than 600,000 won per month. The largest share receiving between 200,000 and 400,000 won was 2,224,201 people, while 1,396,571 received 400,000–599,999 won, and 502,246 were below 200,000 won. The average monthly pension amount (excluding basic pension and other pensions) was 705,370 won, with special and partial pensions averaging 258,899 won and 274,030 won respectively; longevity and income factors mean individual amounts vary widely.
