According to The Verge, OpenAI’s annual DevDay began with protests outside the venue in San Francisco’s Fort Mason, where more than a dozen organizations sponsored the rally. Protesters targeted OpenAI’s military and government contracts, particularly with ICE, as well as data centers and the AI industry’s power, with chants and signs and a request for Altman to address the crowd. The event featured protesters chanting slogans, flyers calling for a democracy pledge, and booing when Altman’s name was mentioned.
