The new policy says data could be transferred to other countries and that BYD would comply with data protection laws, while BYD also claimed Chinese authorities have no access to Australian data; the policy update came about an hour and sixteen minutes before it was sent to Four Corners, and BYD is on track to sell about 100,000 cars in Australia this year, almost double its 2025 sales.
