F-Droid releases version 2.0 with major revamp including unified installer under DMA, improved discovery/search, and new UI
According to IT Home, F-Droid released version 2.0 yesterday (Sept 24), marking the ten-year anniversary’s largest app overhaul with a redesigned UI, unified installer enabled by the EU DMA, and improved discovery and search. The update enhances discovery to highlight new and recently updated apps, expands the classification system to 17 game types, improves search for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean content, and raises the minimum Android requirement to 7 while keeping the older version usable. Kotlin and Jetpack Compose are used in the codebase, and the installer supports pre-approval flow for automatic installation after user confirmation.
